MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of March 2-8
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 2-8.
Aaron Terpstra, a right-handed pitcher for Rochester Community and Technical College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Terpstra started one game and pitched a seven-inning shutout win. He gave up only six hits while striking out six. Terpstra did not give up any walks and finished the week with a 0.00 ERA.
Austin Swenson, utility player for Riverland Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor. Swenson hit .563 for the week, going 9 for 16, with three doubles and one triple. He had six RBI and scored three runs with one walk.
Dominic Rose, right-handed pitcher for Ridgewater College, earned this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor. Rose, in his one starting appearance, threw a one-hit shutout. In four innings of work, he struckout six hitters and walked one, concluding the week with a 0.00 ERA and a 1-0 record.
Luke Jeseritz, second baseman for Ridgewater College, was named this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honoree. Jeseritz went 8 for 11 from the plate, hitting .727 on the week. He had a triple and two home runs, while driving in six runs and scoring nine. He also walked five times and stole two bases.
Brandon Castilleja, a right-handed pitcher for Northland Community and Technical College, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. Castilleja went 1-0 this week, throwing seven innings without giving up a run. He gave up only four hits while striking out six. He did not give up a walk and ended the week with a 0.00 ERA and the win.
Thomas Vekich, third baseman for Minnesota North College - Itasca, earned the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award. Vekich went three for five at the plate, hitting .600, with a double and a home run. He drove in four runs, scored two, and walked twice. Vekich also stole a base.
